Hello February! We welcome the second (and shortest) month of the year. The temperature is cold but the days are starting to get longer. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and kids look forward to a school break mid-month. A wonderful way to release those mid-winter blues is to feel the love in and around Gloucester. Bundle up and feel the warmth with these cozy and creative things to do in our enchanting coastal city on Cape Ann.

Get romantic with a coastal weekend getaway

Escape to Gloucester and Cape Ann for a romantic weekend away with your sweetheart! Treat your special someone to Beauport Hotel’s Celebrate Love sweet Valentine’s package. Enjoy a beautiful waterfront Stay to Remember at The Hotel at Cape Ann Marina with their enhanced specials option, or cozy up with an overnight or extended stay at the charming Harborview Inn overlooking Stacy Boulevard and Gloucester Harbor. Just up the road, take delight in staying at the Rockport Inn & Suites or Addison Choate. For other lodging options, visit our STAY page.

Share your love with a Valentine’s card

Tell them how much you love your loved ones with a handmade one-of-a-kind keepsake card by a local artist. From now through Valentine’s Day, Local Colors Artists’ Cooperative is holding their annual Valentine fundraiser. For every card you purchase, place your vote for your favorite local charity: Wellspring House, Cape Ann Animal Aid, Pathways for Children, and The Open Door.

Treat your sweet to tasty treats

When you think of Valentine’s Day, chocolate and other sweet or salty treats come to mind as delightful gifts to give. Treat your sweet with handmade chocolates from Turtle Alley Chocolates , delicious Italian desserts from Virgilio’s, or tasty cupcakes from Cake Ann. Pick up some specialty olive oil from Cape Ann Olive Oil, and an assortment of cheese, crackers, and pasta from The Cave to prepare a romantic meal in your own home.

Savour the flavors with a wine tasting

Plan a date to go wine tasting at Savour Wine and Cheese. Sample up to 20 wines from their unique digital wine machine any day of the week. On Saturdays, join the owner for a complimentary wine tasting and learn traditional and unique food pairings.
