CAPA Artist’s Demo with Stapleton Kearns
October 7, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pmFree
Join Cape Ann Plein Air for a free plein air painting demonstration at Beauport, the Sleeper McCann House on Eastern Point in Gloucester, with renowned painter Stapleton Kearns.
Born in 1952, Stapleton has painted full-time since the mid 1970s, and has made his living as an artist for over 30 years. Stapleton grew up in Minnesota, studied at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and the University of Minnesota. Neither was teaching what he wanted to learn, which was traditional painting.
He moved to Boston in 1973 and studied in the studio of R.H. Ives Gammell [a student of major American impressionist William Paxton] at the historic Fenway studios in Boston. Stapleton specializes in landscapes that are painted on location, but are often finished in the studio.
This one-hour demonstration is FREE, open to the public, and offered as part of Cape Ann Plein Air’s week of plein air education, October 6-14, 2019. For more information about activities for artists and spectators during the week, visit the CAPA website at http://www.capeannpleinair.com/
