Malian Guitar Workshop with Boubacar Diabate

Cape Ann Guitar Society presents Boubacar Diabate giving a workshop on the traditional Malian Griot style of guitar playing. His teaching follows traditional methods as taught in Mali, and this means rote instruction via example and emulation/following. According to Bouba these methods work best with students who are more advanced, so if you consider yourself a beginner or an early intermediate player this class may be a lot to handle. Cape Ann Guitar Society founder Brendan Evans will be taking the class as well, and will be there to help students along if need be. Workshop participants are sure to come away with new approaches to groove, improvisation, and perhaps guitar playing itself. There is a suggested donation of $20, and students high school age and younger are free.
