Manchester Historical Museum Lecture: Kory Curcuru – The House That Booth Built
March 16 @ 7:00 pm
Kory Curcuru, producer of 1623 Studios’ Timeline: Cape Ann docuseries, discusses The House That Booth Built. The story of the infamous Booths, America’s preeminent family of theater in the 19th century, and their ties to Manchester. Three Booth brothers emerged from their legendary father, Junius,’ mountainous shadow: Junius Jr., who built The Masconomo House overlooking Singing Beach during the era of grand summer hotels on Cape Ann; Edwin, who became the country’s most beloved actor; and the youngest and most notorious brother – John Wilkes. The Masconomo House attracted statesmen and celebrities, and it staged the first outdoor theater production in American history, despite being constructed not long after President Lincoln’s assassination.
