The Dry Salvages Festival 2022: A celebration of T.S. Eliot
September 24 - September 25
Come celebrate the Nobel Prize-winning poet, T.S. Eliot, whose family summered in Gloucester between 1890 and 1919. Young Eliot, a keen sailor, was transfixed by stories of shipwrecks on the local treacherous outcrop of rocks known as The Dry Salvages and would immortalize them in the title of one of the poems in his greatest work Four Quartets. Festival-goers will enjoy bird-watching, a boat tour to the Dry Salvages, theater, poetry readings, and a tour of his summer house.
