SUMMARY:A Night of Comedy with Steve Sweeney & Guests
DESCRIPTION:Charlestown-born Steve Sweeney is known as the “undisputed King of Boston comedy“\, the embodiment of the city he calls home\, a local guy who has become a nationally recognizable talent. \nSweeney is known not only as a headlining comedian\, but also through his many memorable TV and movie appearances. During the early 1970s\, a small group of Boston ‘would-be’ comedians performed regularly at a comedy club started by Martin Olson and Barry Crimmins in a back room of the Chinese restaurant\, Ding-Ho\, near Inman Square in Cambridge\, MA. This group also included such unknowns as Lenny Clarke\, Kevin Meaney\, Jay Leno\, Bobcat Goldthwait\, Bill Sohonage\, and Steven Wright. Steve stood out from the crowd by incorporating his great insight into the New England political scene into his act. \nHe was the first of the Boston super-stars to break into television\, appearing on “Park Street Under\,” a Boston based sitcom that many believe was the inspiration for the highly successful television show “Cheers.” He’s also been on “Late Night with David Letterman\,” “Evening at The Improv” and “Comics Come Home.” You might remember his small but hilarious parts in films such as Rodney Dangerfield’s “Back to School\,” Judd Apatow’s “Celtic Pride\,” and “There’s Something About Mary” with Ben Stiller.

SUMMARY:Jon Butcher Axis – The Final Show – with Special Guest Johnny A
DESCRIPTION:The Jon Butcher Axis has been rocking rooms big and small off and on for 44 years\, from their early start at the legendary Rathskellar (‘The Rat’) and The Channel Club in Boston\, to 20\,000 seat arenas across the U.S.\, touring with the likes of Def Leppard\, Rush\, The J. Geils Band\, The Scorpions and INXS. Multiple videos on MTV and ferocious live shows helped them build a loyal and dedicated following\, especially across New England. But all good things must come to an end. Recently\, Jon Butcher announced via social media (see below) that he would be putting AXIS to bed after a couple Spring dates to close out their amazing history. Jon is and will remain as busy as ever with his other projects\, but he feels it’s time to give AXIS fans a couple more chances to see him and his longtime bandmates Chris Martin and Marty Richards playing a bunch of those classic songs one more time. There are just two shows remaining as of this writing\, so don’t miss your chance to catch them one last time. \n*Jon Butcher Axis post from their Facebook page on February 28th\, 2026. \nDear Fans\, Friends & Family \nIt is with a bittersweet mix of gratitude and appreciation that I announce that AXIS will play its final shows this Spring before calling it a day. And what a day it was! I’ll be posting pics\, music and more leading up to our final two shows in the coming weeks. And thank you\, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sticking with us. I sincerely hope to see you at one of the shows for HOLY WAR\, LIFE TAKES A LIFE\, OCEAN IN MOTION and more! \nSpecial Guest Johnny A \nThe name ‘Johnny A.’ might not be so mainstream\, but there’s no doubt that it’s synonymous with guitar. \nHis passion began at the age of thirteen\, when he first saw the Beatles in Boston\, followed two years later by an in-person witnessing of Jimi Hendrix. From there\, he was hooked\, getting a cheap beginner guitar to try and play along with his early heroes — which also included Yardbirds icons Eric Clapton\, Jeff Beck\, and Jimmy Page.\nSoon enough\, Johnny A. got it. \nBy the 1970’s\, he was forming bands in the New England area\, drawing attention from several established musicians\, like Derek and the Dominos’ keyboardist Bobby Whitlock and Doug Clifford of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Johnny A. became Music Director of J. Geils Band singer Peter Wolf’s outfit\, coordinating the onstage arrangements\, playing on several tours and co-producing Wolf’s 1996 album\, *Long Line.* What’s more\, he was even asked to join The Yardbirds as their lead guitarist in 2015. \nAll this is to say that Johnny A. has the chops\, and that’s not to mention his prolific solo career. Spanning three full-length albums\, Johnny A. has earned a Grammy Award nomination\, the honor of Boston Music Awards\, “Blues Artist of the Year 2010\,” and a spot in the revered Boston Music Hall of Fame. Ever the restless spirit\, Johnny A. continues to glide across genres effortlessly\, exploring elements of jazz\, soul. He still fervently carries on the tradition of the legends he respected as a teen.

SUMMARY:Emerging Perspectives\, Works by Artists 18-30
DESCRIPTION:Gallery Hours: Friday – Sunday\, 12-5pm \n‘Emerging Perspectives’ is a juried exhibition illuminating the vital and evolving voices of the region’s next generation of artists. This showcase serves as a bridge between the storied traditions of America’s oldest continuously operating art colony and the imaginative inquiries of creators aged 18 to 30. \nSelected by the RNAC Exhibitions Committee\, the exhibition presents a focused collection of work that captures a moment of professional becoming. Spanning a wide range of media\, the collection reflects a deep commitment to personal exploration and the pursuit of a distinct visual language. By facilitating a dialogue between these rising artists and the established creative lineage of Gloucester\, the Rocky Neck Art Colony continues its 150-year legacy of fostering the future of the arts. \n‘Emerging Perspectives’ is an invitation to witness the initial professional steps of those who will shape our cultural landscape. It offers a rare glimpse into the burgeoning careers of artists as they transition their practice into the public sphere. We invite the community to observe this growth and support the creative spirit that defines our region. \nThe public is invited to celebrate these new perspectives at the Opening Reception on Sunday\, April 12\, 2026\, from 4-6:00pm. Join Rocky Neck Art Colony and the artists to experience the collection\, meet the artists\, and enjoy an afternoon of refreshments and lively conversation. \nArtwork by: (clockwise) Ben Laird\, Blocks; Ethan LeJeune\, Standing Stones; Rory Kenney\, Be There; Tia Camire\, Prey

SUMMARY:The Gloucester Lyceum Presents: “Our Democracy” — A Timely Public Forum Featuring Harvard Professor Steven Levitsky
DESCRIPTION:The Gloucester Lyceum invites the public to a compelling and timely forum\, “Our Democracy\,” on Saturday\, May 9\, held in the Kyrouz Auditorium at City Hall (9 Dale Avenue\, Gloucester). \nRooted in the Lyceum’s historic mission to bring people together around ideas that shape our world\, this program will explore urgent questions: Where does democracy come from? Crossley will offer her perspective and guide a dynamic conversation with the audience. \nThis forum continues the legacy of the Gloucester Lyceum—founded in 1830—as a place for thoughtful exchange\, civic dialogue\, and intellectual engagement. \nCopies of Dr. Levitsky’s book will be available for sale\, at the event\, courtesy of The Bookstore and will be for sale at The Bookstore prior to the event as well.  There will also be multiple print copies of his books\, prior to the event\, at the main desk available to borrow with a library card. \nEvent Details:\nWhat: Our Democracy — A Gloucester Lyceum Forum\nWhen: Saturday\, May 9\, 2026\, Doors Open at 1:30 pm\, Presentation begins at 2:00 pm\nWhere: Kyrouz Auditorium\, City Hall\, 9 Dale Avenue\, Gloucester\, MA\nRegistration: Program is Free (donations welcome); Registration is Required. SUMMARY:The Language of Presence - A Solo Exhibit by Robin Colodzin
