SUMMARY:Flamenkora
DESCRIPTION:By sensitively and skillfully interweaving improvised trumpet and flamenco guitar with traditional mandinka kora and vocals from Senegal\, FlamenKora creates timeless and enchanting multicultural music; a welcome balm in these troubled times. Up-and-coming Rio de Janeiro and Madrid based flamenco guitar maestro Roberto Monteiro is the newest band member\, adding authentic Spanish flair with driving rhythms and subtle\, imaginative colors. As the group’s founder and producer\, Goetze brings a special wisdom to FlamenKora\, acquired not only through decades of devotion to West African Mande music\, but also through a deep mastery of jazz composition and arrangement and a recent deep dive into the melodic and rhythmic traditions of flamenco. In 2025 FlamenKora spent June in residence at the Manship Artists Residency\, developing new compositions and deepening the project’s fusion of flamenco\, kora traditions\, and jazz. \nAli Boulo Santo Cissoko kora\, vocals A virtuoso kora player\, singer and modern griot\, Ali Boulo Santo Cissoko carries forward the legacy of grandfather\, the legendary “King of the Kora\,” Soundioulou Cissokho. She enjoys using her creative flair in quilting and interior design as well. \nSue graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor’s in business with a focus on hospitality management and earned an associate’s degree from the Culinary Institute of America. Following her tenure as a pastry chef in New Hampshire\, Sue returned to school for a certificate in graphic design and put her talents to use as a designer in the book publishing and art publishing industries in Vermont. In early 2019\, Sue opened her own gallery and studio\, Arts Abound in Magnolia Village\, MA\, as an artistic haven for local artists. Through the gallery\, over 30 artists featured their creative works\, ranging from paintings\, hand-painted silk scarves\, silver jewelry\, and more. Sue also ran many workshops and classes featuring many of the artists. Often\, Sue would work late into the night\, painting in her Arts Abound studio. After closing the gallery in 2022\, Sue continued to offer the often sold-out painting classes\, taught by some of the Arts Abound artists. \nSue has studied under numerous artists to learn watercolor\, acrylic painting\, cold wax & oil\, and collage. Her goals for the Hammond Castle Museum sketch classes are to engage those who are new to the world of art and reinvigorate those who haven’t picked up a blank canvas or sketch pad in a long time. Sue’s philosophy on the creative process encourages you to be less concerned about the final product and instead to enjoy the journey of creativity and get lost in the moment. Once you find yourself in your work\, you may just be surprised!

SUMMARY:Dueling Pianos
DESCRIPTION:Dueling Pianos is back. Bring your friends and have a ball. Dueling Pianos is a massive “to the top of your lungs” sing along with all your friends! Two grand pianos are center-stage with a team of outrageously talented pianists that seem to know every song ever written. \nEach show is different because it’s all request. And you or your friends might get called up onstage for a bit of good humored fun and some unforgettable you-tube moments. These shows are request oriented\, interactive sing-a-longs wherein two piano players sit across from each other and trade songs. The dueling piano audience is used for the dueling aspect of the show. Audience members are pitted one-side-against-the-other. Examples of rivalries include country vs. rock\, men against women\, etc. \nDueling piano shows often take unexpected turns\, like involving wait staff members\, changing song lyrics or roasting popular audience members. There aren’t many boundaries. It’s one big sing-along party\, swaying to the music and bellowing-out familiar lyrics. You’re not just being entertained by the piano players – you are part of the show! \n“Think YOU won’t sing along? Just TRY not too…. I dare ya!”

SUMMARY:CAM Studio Art: Design and Print the Folly Cove Way
DESCRIPTION:Step into the spirit of the legendary Folly Cove Designers and learn the art of block printing with artist Mary Rhinelander in this four-week course. This class blends design fundamentals\, creative play\, and the rich history of Cape Ann’s iconic design collective. Referencing her unpublished book\, Design and How\, you’ll explore the principles of design that Virginia Lee Demetrios taught her students—selecting a theme and exploring it deeply through clarity of line\, rhythm\, repetition\, and pattern—and you will discover how her timeless ideas can elevate your own artistic voice. Each week builds your confidence as you sketch\, carve\, and print your way towards an original finished artwork. \nPlease note: This class has four sessions. \nMary Rhinelander is a professional artist with an MFA in printmaking. Gloucester is in her DNA\, starting with great-grandparents who spent summers on Eastern Point. She lives in East Gloucester\, in a yellow clapboard house once known as “The Summer Art House” where painter Theresa Bernstein and her painter/printmaker husband\, William Meyerowitz\, spent many decades (starting in 1924). Having purchased her home directly from their estate\, William’s etching press is still happily living in the sun-filled basement studio. Mary has had many solo and group shows and her work is in both public and private collections. She has painted murals\, designed logos and book covers\, illustrated for a variety of publications\, and taught students of all ages. In 2004 she founded Mermade Press\, a fine art card business. With a deep affinity for the Folly Cove Designers and Virginia Lee Demetrios in particular\, it has been Mary’s great pleasure to bring block printing workshops into Cape Ann’s public schools with the support of CAM and the Gloucester Education Foundation.
