SUMMARY:Rob Flax's Boom Chick Trio - Dean Stevens opens
DESCRIPTION:Rob Flax possesses a rare combination of skills: he is an award-winning violinist\, classically trained but known for his jazz and improvisational pyrotechnics and irresistible grooves\, plus a deep knowledge of American fiddle traditions. He’s also a powerhouse vocalist\, capable of silky crooning a la Nat King Cole or visceral Chicago blues shouts\, and a consummate songwriter with lyrical depth. It takes a special kind of musician to keep pace with Rob’s stylistic breadth and depth\, but after much searching\, he’s finally found a band that can keep up: Rob Flax’s Boom Chick Trio features Slava Tolstoy on guitar and Chris Sartori on bass. \nBorn and raised in Costa Rica\, Dean Stevens is an exuberant performer of distinctive style and wit. He has established himself as a formidable creator and interpreter of a wide spectrum of songs in English and Spanish. His own material explores a variety of personal and social topics\, paints sketches of people and places\, celebrates the Earth\, and annoys the narrow minded.

SUMMARY:Dracula (1931) & Frankenstein (1931) Double Feature
DESCRIPTION:It’s the 95th anniversary of two iconic horror movies\, and we’re bringing them to the big screen at The Cabot! First it’s Bela Lugosi in Dracula\, followed by Boris Karloff in Frankenstein! \nThere will be a 10 minute intermission between the films. \nThe dashing\, mysterious Count Dracula (Bela Lugosi) travels to London from Transylvania and takes up residence in a ruined abbey. A string of attacks soon follow\, the victims being found with all the blood drained from their body. While Dracula sets his sights on Mina\, the daughter of a prominent doctor at a nearby sanatorium\, Professor Van Helsing is enlisted to stop the attacks and investigate the Count. \nThe obsessed scientist Dr. Henry Frankenstein nears the end of his quest to create life by assembling a creature made from body parts of the deceased in his secluded laboratory. On the stormy night Henry’s fiancee Elizabeth and his former colleagues arrive to bring him home\, Dr. Frankenstein finally succeeds in animating his grotesque creature (Boris Karloff).

SUMMARY:Daughtry - 20 Years Unplugged Tour
DESCRIPTION:With Ryan Perdz on support \nDaughtry celebrates 20 years with an intimate acoustic performance!\nFormed in 2006\, the Grammy Award®-nominated\, multi-platinum rock band Daughtry has remained a dominant force for nearly two decades. Fronted by powerhouse vocalist Chris Daughtry\, the band has sold more than 11 million records worldwide\, earned four Grammy nominations\, received American Music Awards\, and achieved multiple Billboard chart-toppers\, including three No. 1 rock singles. Entering a bold new chapter with their latest albums\, Dearly Beloved and Shock to the System\, Daughtry delivers a harder-edged\, high-impact statement that reaffirms their evolution and staying power—proving they’re not just part of the rock conversation but are still driving it. \nRYAN PERDZ\nRyan Perdz is a 24-year-old singer\, songwriter\, and multi-instrumentalist from Buffalo\, NY. Raised on his grandparents’ family farm\, he began teaching himself guitar at age ten and expanded into bass\, violin\, and mandolin\, developing a hands-on approach to songwriting and arrangement. \nInfluenced by artists such as Nirvana\, Chris Cornell\, Red Hot Chili Peppers\, and Led Zeppelin\, Perdz channels the emotional weight of 90s rock through a modern lens\, balancing grit with melody. His music often explores isolation\, self-doubt\, and perseverance\, delivered with a clarity that feels lived-in rather than ornamental. \nAfter independently releasing multiple singles and his First Sight EP an racking up tens of millions of views across social media\, Perdz cultivated a loyal audience through consistent self-directed output. In 2025\, he signed with Big Machine Rock and began recording his debut full-length album. SUMMARY:CAM Studio Art: Design and Print the Folly Cove Way
DESCRIPTION:Step into the spirit of the legendary Folly Cove Designers and learn the art of block printing with artist Mary Rhinelander in this four-week course. This class blends design fundamentals\, creative play\, and the rich history of Cape Ann’s iconic design collective. Referencing her unpublished book\, Design and How\, you’ll explore the principles of design that Virginia Lee Demetrios taught her students—selecting a theme and exploring it deeply through clarity of line\, rhythm\, repetition\, and pattern—and you will discover how her timeless ideas can elevate your own artistic voice. Each week builds your confidence as you sketch\, carve\, and print your way towards an original finished artwork. \nPlease note: This class has four sessions. \nMary Rhinelander is a professional artist with an MFA in printmaking. Gloucester is in her DNA\, starting with great-grandparents who spent summers on Eastern Point. She lives in East Gloucester\, in a yellow clapboard house once known as “The Summer Art House” where painter Theresa Bernstein and her painter/printmaker husband\, William Meyerowitz\, spent many decades (starting in 1924). Having purchased her home directly from their estate\, William’s etching press is still happily living in the sun-filled basement studio. Mary has had many solo and group shows and her work is in both public and private collections. She has painted murals\, designed logos and book covers\, illustrated for a variety of publications\, and taught students of all ages. In 2004 she founded Mermade Press\, a fine art card business. With a deep affinity for the Folly Cove Designers and Virginia Lee Demetrios in particular\, it has been Mary’s great pleasure to bring block printing workshops into Cape Ann’s public schools with the support of CAM and the Gloucester Education Foundation.

SUMMARY:The Enduring Legacy of the Rockaway Hotel: 1850 through Today
DESCRIPTION:Take a deep dive into the history of one of Gloucester’s Grand Hotels and well known watering holes\, the Rockaway Hotel (AKA the Rockaway House). \nThe Rockaway Hotel’s story stretches from its 1890s beginnings as a sturdy seaside boardinghouse to its early 20th century expansion as one of Gloucester’s “Grand Hotels” and part of Boston’s “Gold Coast\,” to a mid 20th century heyday as Gloucester’s most raucous social playground. It was a place where fashion shows strutted across makeshift stages\, the swimming pool doubled as a parking lot\, and late 1970s revelers drank\, danced\, and laughed their way through countless summer nights\, much to the disapproval of the surrounding neighborhood. After decades of unforgettable chaos and coastal charm\, the old hotel finally settled into a well earned retirement\, transformed into the condominium residence that stands there today — quieter\, steadier\, but still carrying the echoes of its wild past. Come and relive the story and bring stories of your own about your memories of the old “Rot-Away” Hotel!
