SUMMARY:Artful Conversations: “Baptism\,” by Anne Rearick
DESCRIPTION:Artful Conversations: “Baptism\,” by Anne Rearick\nNovember 19 @ 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm\nRegistration\nImage Credit: Anne Rearick. Baptism. 2025. Archival print. Private collection.\nThursday\, November 19\, 2026 and Thursday\, December 3\, 2026\n12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.\nCAM Education Room\nDowntown Campus\n27 Pleasant Street\, Gloucester\, MA\nCAM Members $5\, Non-Members (Adult) $25 (includes admission to the General Museum)\nAdditional price types are available upon checkout\nRegistration Required \nJoin Us Mid-Day for Artful Conversations\nTake a midday pause and experience one work of art in depth. \nArtful Conversations are informal\, docent-led gallery experiences that invite visitors to slow down\, look closely\, and engage in thoughtful conversation. Each session features a work of art or object that is new to view—whether a recent acquisition or a work newly installed in the galleries. \nThe program begins in the Education Room at our Downtown Campus with a brief introduction and visual context before moving into the galleries for an extended exploration of the featured work. Guided by observation\, curiosity\, and conversation\, participants are encouraged to share ideas\, consider different perspectives\, and discover new connections together. \nThis week for Artful Conversations \nThis presentation explores Baptism by photographer Anne Rearick\, whose work is featured in a special museum exhibition. Rooted in the tradition of documentary photography\, Rearick distinguishes herself through her long-term relationships with the people and places she photographs\, including the Gloucester community. Through Baptism and related works\, she captures the importance of shared public spaces as places where people gather\, build connections\, create traditions\, and foster a sense of belonging. Her photographs reveal how community life unfolds over time\, preserving collective experiences and cultural memory. \nAlthough Miriam Weinstein has lived on Cape Ann for more than three decades\, she loves finding new places and new stories and sharing them with visitors. She was a painting major in college and thought of herself as a visual person until she became\, first\, a documentary filmmaker and then a journalist. Having spent the bulk of her professional life as a writer\, she now thinks she might be a word person after all. She was a staff member at North Shore Weeklies newspapers for many years. Her book\, Yiddish: A Nation of Words\, won the National Jewish Book award. Her book\, The Surprising Power of Family Meals gave her a platform to lecture and consult on the topic internationally. Miriam likes changing gears\, which fits well with CAM’s varied collection. She gives tours to adults\, family groups\, and kids. She enjoys moving quickly and making sure that everyone stays engaged. She loves the fact that tours can be very personalized. Each tour is different\, depending on the interests of the docent and the guests\, as well as the changing exhibits. Much like Cape Ann\, Museum visits are creative\, personable\, idiosyncratic\, and rich in beauty and history.

SUMMARY:Bim Skala Bim w/ special guest The Chip Rockers
DESCRIPTION:Bim Skala Bim formed in Boston\, MA over 40 years ago as a Ska Rocksteady and Reggae band that was influenced by the bands in England’s 2 Tone movement\, as well as the music of the Clash\, UB40 and Bob Marley. Bim’s infectious Boston Blue Beat sound led them to be one of the premier bands kick-starting the Third Wave of Ska in the 1980s. Other bands quickly followed their example resulting in a lively scene in Boston and much of the United States.

SUMMARY:Gloucester Film Release of The Networks: Art + Fishing + Community
DESCRIPTION:13+\, Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult \n“The NetWorks: Art + Fishing + Community” will have its US premiere and release celebrations this November 2026. Film Director and Producer Ken Kinna of B-Roll Films will host a film lunch and release party at the Cut on Nov 29th. The event will feature Q&A with the main characters and supporting organizations\, including: Erika Senft Miller\, Ann Molloy\, Joe Sanfilippo and James Tarantino. \nThe film is about an art project initiated by Manship Artists Residency and an international multi-sensory artist (Senft Miller) coming from Vermont with a team of artists to work with local Gloucester fishermen and local artists to create an immersive art installation on the harbor of Gloucester\, Massachusetts. The film celebrates this combined community effort and also introduces us to some of our fishermen and takes up some of the topics confronting the fishing industry today. The film is dedicated to the crew of the F/V Lilly Jean. This film was recently honored with three film awards in Sicily\, this past August\, including: Best Cultural Film\, Best Director\, and Best Feature Documentary inspiring a trip to Sicily by some of the contributors to The NetWorks public art project who are featured in the film\, inspiring and renewed connection to the fishing and cultural heritage of Gloucester. \nKinna and Raynolds hope these events will bring together many of those involved and invite new opportunities for communication around the themes of fishing\, the arts\, and community. It is clear that the heritage is great but it is also clear that more communication and action is needed to best preserve this heritage and its future particularly in regard to the health and safety of our Fishermen\, our scientific observers\, our fishing industry as well as our fish. \nStage Screen Project of the film and Short Q&A with those involved.\nMusicians (in or related to the film and fishing songs)\nMary Harp Player\nCompass Bros Michael O’Leary with Gary Dolinsky\nBrian King and Nathon Cohen of Mr. FoxPeter and Audi Sousa \nSponsor/Partner Organizations and Businesses\nB-Roll Films Manship Artists Residency\nNeptunes Harvest\nExtreme Gloucester Fishing/Salt Maritime\nGloucester Schooner Adventure
