SUMMARY:Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe presents Laugh Out Loud
DESCRIPTION:Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe (CAST) kicks off its 2026-27 season with Laugh Out Loud. Shakespeare’s quote “Prepare for mirth\, for mirth becomes a feast.” aptly describes this feast of modern one-act comedies: Base Model Man and Who Ate the Cheetos? by Kevin Perrin of the Gloucester Writers Center\, and Black Comedy by Peter Shaffer. \nBase Model Man\, directed by Alexis Armstrong\, imagines a dealership where a woman shops for the perfect man with available upgrades such as “willing to share housework” and “actually listens”. Directed by Billy Lewand\, Who Ate the Cheetos? is an eight minute comedy in which a simple family mystery erupts into a full-blown courtroom style confrontation a la A Few Good Men. In the classic farce Black Comedy\, directed by Mark Efinger\, a young artist and his fiancée secretly furnish their apartment with a neighbor’s expensive antiques before meeting her intimidating military father. When the electricity fails and unexpected guests arrive – a suspicious neighbor\, a nervous spinster\, a talkative electrician\, and an old girlfriend—the comic chaos escalates. \nPerforming from November 5th-8th and 12th-15th\, all performances are at The Natti-Willsky Performance Center: Home of Gloucester Stage Company\, 267 East Main Street\, Gloucester. Showtimes are Thursdays-Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 3:00pm. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the box office at 978-281-4433.

SUMMARY:The Great Marsh Starts Here! A Living Landscape in Motion
DESCRIPTION:The Great Marsh Starts Here! A Living Landscape in Motion brings together artists from the Great Marsh Artists Fellowship for an exhibition celebrating three years of artistic exploration\, collaboration\, and engagement with one of New England’s most significant coastal landscapes. \nThe exhibition features work by artists who have participated in the Great Marsh Artists Fellowship\, a program created to support artists in developing new projects inspired by the Great Marsh\, its natural and man-made history and significance\, as well as its beauty and immediate fragility. Over the past three years\, 22 artists have been selected as Great Marsh Artist Fellows and have dedicated themselves to creating 24 projects that connect art\, ecology\, history\, science\, and community. Some have been completed and presented to the community\, others are still underway. \nThe exhibition brings together work by 18 of the 22 Great Marsh Artists Fellows including Resa Blatman\, Gail Boyajian\, Marcia Ciro\, Robert J. Bradshaw\, Michele Brody\, Anne Eder\, Karen Futral\, Isaac Grenader\, Robert Honstein\, Jenn Houle\, Amy Kaczur\, Andrea LeBlanc\, Susan Quateman\, Katie Pustizzi\, Norah Solorzano\, Erika Sutter\, and Alex Young. \nThe work presented moves across artistic disciplines and mediums—from painting\, photography\, and sculpture to video\, book art\, music\, animation\, and dance—revealing the many ways a living landscape can be seen\, experienced\, interpreted\, and expressed. \nThe exhibition marks an important milestone in a partnership that began with The Great Marsh Concert in 2023\, a collaboration between Manship Artists Residency and Artists for the Great Marsh. The concert brought artists and members of the Great Marsh community together around a shared interest in the landscape and its future. That initial collaboration led to the formation of the Great Marsh Artists Fellowship\, which provides $2\,000 grants to artists to develop projects that premiere at organizations and institutions connected to the Great Marsh. \nNovember 6 – 22\, 2026\nGallery Hours: Friday–Sunday\, 12–5 pm\nOpening Reception: November 7\, 4-6 pm\, Cultural Center at Rocky Neck\, Gloucester\, MA\nSome of the artwork will be for sale. \nAdmission: Donations gratefully accepted to the FREE exhibition. Recommended donations requested for certain programs to pay the performers. Register to attend on exhibition page of Manship website visiting the link below.

SUMMARY:Big Head Todd and the Monsters
DESCRIPTION:In this life\, very few friendships withstand the test of time. \nNaturally\, people go their separate ways and chase their own dreams. As rare as it may be for friendships to last a lifetime\, it might be even rarer for a band to stick together for the long haul. For close to four decades\, the members of Big Head Todd and The Monsters—Todd Park Mohr [vocals\, guitar\, keys\, sax\, harmonica]\, Brian Nevin [drums]\, Rob Squires [bass\, vocals]\, and Jeremy Lawton [keyboards\, lap pedal/steel guitar\, vocals]—have continued to both throw down in the studio and light up stages worldwide. Rallying around a core vision\, the platinum-selling Colorado quartet kick out the kind of blues-drenched rock ‘n’ roll bangers that make you want to rev the engine a little louder\, sing along like no one’s looking\, and live a little freer. \nThis holds true on their 12th full-length offering\, Her Way Out. \n“To me\, my band means four people who listen to each other\, work hard\, and share a goal\,” Todd observes. “The goal has to do with reaching out to people\, catching their ears\, and sharing a story we hope they relate to. Our fans have given us an incredible 40-year career\, and we hope they’ve gotten great songs and performances in return.” \nThey’ve most definitely delivered on both fronts… \nAs the story goes\, Todd\, Brian\, and Rob unlocked their musical partnership during high school when they started jamming in the early eighties. Fast forward to 1986\, they adopted the moniker Big Head Todd and The Monsters. BHTM released 2 successful independent records on their own BIG Records\, Another Mayberry (1989) and Midnight Radio (1990) before drawing the attention of music industry titans and signing with Irving Azoff\, Chuck Morris\, and Frank Barsalona in 1992. They broke nationally with the platinum-certified staple Sister Sweetly (1993) which yielded four top 10 rock radio hits. They continued to progress with Strategem [1994] and Beautiful World [1997] which yielded several more rock radio hits including Boom Boom featuring John Lee Hooker. The band is continually touring and recording and has continued to put out albums that have received critical acclaim from both fans and press. \nAmong other milestones\, their music literally reached the heavens when they played “Blue Sky” live at NASA Mission Control\, delivering a celestial wakeup for astronauts aboard the International Space Station. They’ve toured and recorded with many rock and blues legends including B.B. King\, Neil Young\, The Allman Brothers\, Hubert Sumlin\, David “Honeyboy” Edwards\, Dave Matthews Band\, The Eagles and their personal favorite Robert Plant. Not to mention\, they attained hometown hero status by headlining Red Rocks Amphitheatre 35 times in addition to earning induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2023. \nHer Way Out came to life organically. For two years\, they hosted “Monster’s Music Monthly\,” serving up either a new song or a new version of a classic online. Working out of Jeremy’s home studio\, they parlayed this momentum into their latest LP. \n“It had been almost seven years since our last album release\, but we wanted to put the same energy of ‘Monster’s Music Monthly’ into a full-length\,” Todd notes. “We have a very distinct personality as a band. I write to the sensibilities of each member\, because they’re going to have to dig playing it. We’re a benevolent democracy. If one guy isn’t connecting with a certain song\, that song is out. As an uncomplicated rock band\, we like to do things that are ‘proper’—loud guitars\, drums\, big bass\, and well-placed organ\, keys\, and lap steel. We road-tested every song on the record before recording a lick. All of that helped us dial in the arrangements\, ditch tunes that didn’t work\, and grow a strong sense of what our individual parts should be.” \nIn this respect\, the single and title track “Her Way Out” packs a concentrated and catchy punch. Anchored by a steady beat\, the rough and tumble riff kicks up dust as soulful vocals ignite an irresistible refrain\, “She found her way out\, her way out—and it was me.” \n“It’s driven by the idea that relationships are frail\,” he elaborates. “Sometimes\, they are something one wants freedom from. A real-life circumstance drives this story. Something was said when a person had too much to drink. The relationship ended with words\, but the drinker could never know what he said and the woman refused to tell him.” \nAss-kicking guitar surges through “Thunderbird” as strains of organ coat a raucous refrain with a lyrical tip-of-the-hat to the Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas classic American Graffiti. \nHe goes on\, “‘Thunderbird’ is a collection of one-liners from the film knit together with a beat poet vibe. It has an AC/DC-like guitar riff and a cinematic-style vocal. It’s all about drag racing and love never caught.” \nElsewhere\, Big Head Todd and The Monsters nod to Annie Oakley with “Don’t Kill Me Tonight.” Then\, there’s “King Kong.” A hulking groove lumbers beneath the frontman’s bluesy intonation as a piano solo bleeds into a skyscraper-scaling guitar lead. \n“It’s inspired by a large movie poster in my basement of King Kong on top of the Empire State Building\,” Todd reveals. “I’m drawn to these iconic contemporary heroes who are also monsters. They are complicated because they destroy so much\, yet are sympathetic to children and fall in love with human women. These ‘Titans’\, as they are called\, are often monsters of our own making. It’s exciting to perform live.” \nIn the end\, the future looks as bright as ever for these longtime friends. \n“We work very hard at being a great band\,” Todd leaves off. “We’re also a group that cares for each other. We’ve been together for almost 40 years. Our audience has made it all possible\, and we’re grateful and determined to keep playing.” \n–\nDancing/Standing: Patrons will most likely be standing and dancing at their seats throughout the theater at this event.

SUMMARY:Delta Generators with Julie Rhodes
DESCRIPTION:Real music by real people\, played live and recorded live. This best embodies the philosophy of\nestablished Boston band Delta Generators and their approach for their latest record ON & ON.\nIn an industry where technology has become the standard and intelligence has become artificial\,\nDelta Generators are keeping it real and will continue to do so going forward. All the songs on\nthis record were written\, arranged and rehearsed over a period of eight days and then recorded in\ntwo days at Power Station N.E. in Waterford\, CT by Evan Bakke\, best known for his work with\nWarren Haynes and Prince. The idea was to get together\, play and when something feels right\,\nwork it! No preconceived ideas as to what it should be. A journey of liberation\, inspiration and\nperspiration. Yeah\, Blues is the vehicle\, but their lifelong love of rock music is the fuel that\npowers it. \nBrothers Charlie and Rick O’Neal\, on guitar and bass respectively\, have been playing together\nsince their teenage years. Most notably as members of Benjamin Orr’s band\, former singer and\nbass player with The Cars. Sometimes they would go off and do other projects\, Charlie toured\nwith UK band Must and Rick played in Boston guitar hero Johnny A’s band\, but inevitably they\nwould play together again and again. Charlie had been playing in rock bands throughout\nhis early years\, but he was always a huge fan of Blues guitar. He spent years honing his abilities\nby playing along with records. When the opportunity presented itself for a Blues driven side\nproject\, he was all in. That moment altered his future\, placing him in the position to celebrate his\npassion for personal heroes like Elmore James\, Freddie King and Albert Collins. \nWhen the ensemble was first conceived\, a lover of R&B and Soul named Craig Rawding took\nthe mic as the original front man. Charlie O’Neal brought on his brother Rick as the bassist. And \nin 2007\, the Delta Generators were born. The initial drummer had to bail after a few months\, so\nup-and-coming percussionist Jeff Armstrong was brought into the fold. By 2008\, it was no\nlonger a side project\, and they captured the win at the Boston Blues Challenge. They went on to \nMemphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge where they almost took the top spot. \nFrom there the band went on to forge a solid place in the Boston Blues scene. They went on to\nrecord four records before Craig decided to leave the band in 2016. Enter Brian Templeton\, a\nfixture in the local scene since 1991. His band The Radio Kings had already recorded for two\nlabels\, and he had toured all across the U.S. and Europe with them and as a solo artist. A\nconsummate showman and lover of the spirit\, Brian was rooted in the rock music of his youth\nand was already a seasoned Blues Man. It was a perfect fit and the rest as they say is history.\n“Brian lifted the DGs to a new level with his showmanship and drive\,” says Charlie\, “I don’t\nthink the band would have continued if Brian hadn’t joined.” Brother Rick continues\, “Besides\nhis top-notch vocals\, Brian brought a powerful stage presence and killer harmonica playing to\nthe mix and his lyric writing is in a class all by itself.” \nThe new album is anything but vanilla. After all these years together\, the quartet has a voice and\nswagger that is all their own. The new repertoire is a pure collaboration that has captured what\nmakes this union of these four musicians so organic and pure in its creation. Drummer Jeff\nArmstrong shares\, “Unlike the previous record\, which was more of a compilation of great songs\,\nthis new record stands in itself as a complete cohesive work.” Guitarist Charlie O’Neal offers \, \n“ON & ON perfectly captures the live spirit of the band and is by far sonically superior to any of our previous albums.” \nDelta Generators love writing and recording but they live to play live. Making a connection with\ntheir fans is the most important part of it. As Templeton says. “Making a spiritual bond with the\npeople\, our fans\, is why we do what we do. There really is no other reason.”

Each session features a work of art or object that is new to view—whether a recent acquisition or a work newly installed in the galleries. \nThe program begins in the Education Room at our Downtown Campus with a brief introduction and visual context before moving into the galleries for an extended exploration of the featured work. Guided by observation\, curiosity\, and conversation\, participants are encouraged to share ideas\, consider different perspectives\, and discover new connections together. \nThis week for Artful Conversations \nThis presentation explores Baptism by photographer Anne Rearick\, whose work is featured in a special museum exhibition. Rooted in the tradition of documentary photography\, Rearick distinguishes herself through her long-term relationships with the people and places she photographs\, including the Gloucester community. Through Baptism and related works\, she captures the importance of shared public spaces as places where people gather\, build connections\, create traditions\, and foster a sense of belonging. Her photographs reveal how community life unfolds over time\, preserving collective experiences and cultural memory. \nAlthough Miriam Weinstein has lived on Cape Ann for more than three decades\, she loves finding new places and new stories and sharing them with visitors. She was a painting major in college and thought of herself as a visual person until she became\, first\, a documentary filmmaker and then a journalist. Having spent the bulk of her professional life as a writer\, she now thinks she might be a word person after all. She was a staff member at North Shore Weeklies newspapers for many years. Her book\, Yiddish: A Nation of Words\, won the National Jewish Book award. Her book\, The Surprising Power of Family Meals gave her a platform to lecture and consult on the topic internationally. Miriam likes changing gears\, which fits well with CAM’s varied collection. She gives tours to adults\, family groups\, and kids. She enjoys moving quickly and making sure that everyone stays engaged. She loves the fact that tours can be very personalized. Each tour is different\, depending on the interests of the docent and the guests\, as well as the changing exhibits. Much like Cape Ann\, Museum visits are creative\, personable\, idiosyncratic\, and rich in beauty and history.

SUMMARY:Cowboy Junkies – Celebrating 40 Years and Beyond
DESCRIPTION:Cowboy Junkies will be performing a career-spanning show from The Trinity Session to their recent album\, Such Ferocious Beauty! \n“One of the most unique and enduring bands in alternative rock.” – All Music \n“Margo Timmins’s voice is as melancholy and enchanting as ever” – The New York Times \n“There’s something that is nearly miraculous about the way Margo Timmins’ beautiful voice fits with those pained lyrics written by her brother Michael Timmins…the result is some truly transformative music.” – The Mercury News \nAbout Cowboy Junkies\nSometimes revolutions begin quietly. \nIn 1988\, Cowboy Junkies proved that there was an audience waiting for something quiet\, beautiful and reflective. The Trinity Session was like a whisper that cut through the noise — and it was compelling. It stood out in the midst of the flash and bombast that came to define the late 80’s. The now classic recording combined folk\, blues and rock in a way that had never been heard before and went on to sell more than a million copies. \nFormed in Toronto in 1985 with siblings Michael Timmins on guitar\, Margo Timmins on vocals\, Peter Timmins on drums\, and Michael’s lifelong friend Alan Anton on bass\, the band has sparkled over the course of 29 albums. “I’ve known Alan longer than I’ve known Pete\,” says Michael. “We were friends before Pete was born.” \nUnlike most long-lasting groups\, Cowboy Junkies have never had a break up or taken a sanity-saving hiatus. There’s an appreciation of each other that keeps them constantly working. “It’s that intimacy and understanding of what each one of us brings to the table\,” says Michael.

SUMMARY:Deck the Halls at Hammond Castle Museum
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 2026 Holiday Season as we proudly present our 8th annual holiday celebration\, Deck the Halls\, a Museum-wide holiday installation! \nTravel back in time to a castle filled with candlelight and lush\, opulent textures inspired by the great medieval and Renaissance castles of Europe. \nWe are delighted to partner again with Elaine Quinn Interiors\, a boutique residential interior design firm based in Manchester-by-the-Sea\, to bring heightened inspiration and artistry to this year’s museum-wide holiday installation. Abundant greenery and sumptuous layers of décor create a richly immersive seasonal experience throughout the Museum. \nWander through rooms adorned with white birch and Christmas trees\, sparkling fairy lights\, hydrangea-lace garlands\, and elegant bows\, with each space transformed by its own unique holiday theme. This celebration also embraces the traditions of Hanukkah\, with two beautifully displayed menorahs adding their own warm glow to the Museum’s festive splendor. From nature’s bounty of fruits and greenery to the warm glow of candlelight\, every detail creates a feast for the senses. Along the way\, encounter a royal guard of nutcrackers\, a gingerbread house replica of the Museum\, and playful elves and gnomes up to mischief\, adding a touch of whimsy for little ones. \nIn addition to the holiday installation\, guests can enjoy the temporary exhibition\, “Brave-Too-Much”: The Legend of John Coffee Hays. Guests should plan for approximately 60 minutes to fully experience the holiday installation and exhibition \nExtended Tuesday and Thursday Tour Hours:\nNew this year\, visitors can enjoy extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays\, with last entry at 7:15 p.m. These extended guided and self-guided tour hours offer greater opportunities to experience the Museum after dark\, when holiday décor glows with flickering candlelight and twinkling lights.
