Beauport, the Sleeper-McCann House is a National Historic Landmark located in East Gloucester, overlooking Gloucester Harbor. Beauport was the summer home of one of America’s first professional interior designers, Henry Davis Sleeper. After Sleeper’s death, Beauport was purchased by the McCann family, who preserved the home much as Sleeper had left it. Filled with antiques, works of art, and a vast collection of decorative objects, today Beauport, the Sleeper-McCann House is a museum, managed by Historic New England, that opens to the public each summer.
