Cressy’s Beach is a rocky, harbor-facing beach located at the lower end of historic Stage Fort Park in Gloucester. While less sandy than other area beaches, it offers a relaxed, uncrowded atmosphere with panoramic views of Gloucester Harbor, making it a favorite for reading, tide-watching, or simply enjoying the working waterfront.
This beach is ideal for those who prefer a quieter setting away from the larger beach crowds. The water is calm, and the mix of rock and sand provides a great spot for lounging on a beach chair, searching for shells, or watching schooners and fishing boats pass by. It’s also a great location for launching a kayak or paddleboard.
The surrounding Stage Fort Park offers a wide variety of amenities, including:
-
Restrooms (seasonally available)
-
Picnic areas and charcoal grilling stations (bring your own grill)
-
A large playground
-
Ball fields and tennis courts
-
Walking paths and scenic viewpoints
Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic or spend the entire day enjoying both the beach and park surroundings. While alcohol is prohibited throughout the park and beach, Cressy’s offers a laid-back space to unwind and connect with Gloucester’s maritime charm
Parking is available in Stage Fort Park for a daily fee during the season, and the location is just a short distance from downtown Gloucester, the Boulevard, and Half Moon Beach.
